The LPDR v2 record provides consistent land parameter retrievals spanning both AMSR-E and AMSR2 (AMSR-E/2) operational records, and are suitable for science quality evaluations of key land parameters important to ecosystem processes. A detailed LPDR (v2) accuracy and performance assessment was conducted over the global domain (Du et al. 2017). Additional bit-wise data quality files (QA) are provided in GeoTIFF (.tif) format for describing the quality information of LPDR data files. Thus, support for this data set may be limited.

This data set contains satellite-retrieved geophysical parameter files generated from the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer - Earth Observing System (AMSR-E) instrument on the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Aqua satellite; and Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer 2(AMSR2) instrument on the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) Global Change Observation Mission 1st- Water (GCOM-W) satellite. The daily parameter retrievals extend from 19 June 2002 to 30 June 2017 and include daily air temperature minima and maxima (Tmn and Tmx) at approximately 2 m in height; 60-day temporally smoothed fractional open water cover (fw) and daily (non-smoothed) fractional open water (fwns) estimates; vegetation optical depth (VOD); surface soil moisture (vsm) at ~1 cm soil depth; and integrated water vapor content of the intervening atmosphere (V) for the total column. The global retrievals were derived over land for non-precipitating, non-snow, and non-ice covered conditions. The primary input data were daily AMSR-E and AMSR2 dual polarized multi-frequency, ascending and descending overpass brightness temperature data. The total volume for this data set is approximately 173 gigabytes. Data are provided in GeoTIFF files and are available via HTTP.
<Related_URL><URL_Content_Type><Type>VIEW RELATED INFORMATION</Type></URL_Content_Type>

Documentation
</Related_URL><Related_URL><URL_Content_Type><Type>GET DATA</Type></URL_Content_Type>

HTTP
</Related_URL><Related_URL><URL_Content_Type><Type>VIEW RELATED INFORMATION</Type></URL_Content_Type>

AMSR-E Validation Data
</Related_URL><Related_URL><URL_Content_Type><Type>VIEW RELATED INFORMATION</Type></URL_Content_Type>

AMSR-E/Aqua Data
</Related_URL><Metadata_Name>CEOS IDN DIF</Metadata_Name><Metadata_Version>VERSION 9.9</Metadata_Version><DIF_Creation_Date>2017-08-27</DIF_Creation_Date><Last_DIF_Revision_Date>2017-08-27</Last_DIF_Revision_Date><DIF_Revision_History>
