Title : Description of CARDAMOM Driver dataset for Anthony Bloom, JPL Author : Lucas A. Jones, lucas@ntsg.umt.edu, Univ. of Montana Date : 08/23/2018 Project : NASA IDS Project 2018, Nick Parazoo (PI), Nicholas.C.Parazoo@jpl.nasa.gov, JPL/Cal Tech File Format : Matlab .mat file Temporal Extent: Flux data: daily Jan 1, 2014 - Sep 7, 2016 Met data: daily Jan 1, 2000 - Dec 31, 2017 Spatial Format : Timeseries for one site location Notes : This file contains flux tower data and MERRA-2 meteorological drivers for the CARDAMOM ecoystem carbon data assimilation scheme for the Bonanaza Creek Bog flux tower location (PI: Eugenie Eurskirchen). The MERRA-2 data were regridded from their native resolution (0.625 deg x 0.5 deg) to the EASEv2 global 9-km grid to correspond with typical SMAP L4C processing. The precipitation and daily maximum 2m air temperature were pulled from GES DISC for this activity, all other fields were on-hand from previous SMAP L4C activities. The radiation field is downward incoming short wave which it what we use in L4C. The precipitation field is the land-only bias-corrected precipitation provided in MERRA-2, which is also the precip forcing for the SMAP Nature Run soil moisture. Known problems : GPP and RECO can be negative in the original reported fluxes. I set these non-physical values to zero, therefore RECO minus GPP in this dataset is not necessarily equal to NEE.
